Tears of the Machine - a Survivor Game like No Other

If you are looking for a survivor game like no other, then download Tears of the Machine. It’s set in story that’s as gripping and enticing as the game itself, setting you on a course for adventure to rid your currently barren world from all foes and to find out more about the girl that haunts your memories.

Set in 2085, Tears of the Machine put you in a world that’s been ravaged. Your mission, armed in a mech suit, is to travel the land, find the offenders and destroy them. You are the machine and your end game is not so easy, because as you move, you will come across enemies of all sorts, looking to take you down. You will not let them, because with every step you take, you keep in your sights the vision of the girl that you know is a part of your past. You don’t know how, but the thought of uncovering that mystery is what drives you to forge forward.

The main antagonist to this game is the Global Order Coalition. Your aim is to find and take them down, one entity at a time. You don’t know if they are man or machine, but armed with weapons of your choosing, you set out to destroy, building on armaments as you pass through levels and accumulate strength.

The game allows for customization and options that you can access from the main screen. A variety of armaments and weapons becomes available as you collect points. When you first download the game, you’ll see a lock on many of the icons, but many will disappear as you advance through levels or the story.

This brings us to the next item of discussion – game play mode. You can play in either Story Mode or Survivor Mode. In Story Mode, you walk through the game as if you are walking through the story, conquering each line and page as you slay the enemy and reveal new truths. The app will pause now and then to narrate what’s happened and what’s to come, bringing more depth to the app.

Should you choose Survivor Mode, you will battle and move through levels, unhampered by the storyline. You simply defeat and collect points and move your way towards the finish line.

Having both modes allows for more variety, as you can switch between the two and change things up a bit.

The only item I would say needs improvement is the controls which move your machine. It was not so intuitive at first, but with some practice, I was able to gauge how to turn, reverse and move him. You also have to experiment a bit with the icons on the right, used to shoot and defend yourself, as there is no info page or How To for this game.

Outside of that, this app adds richness to the survivor type of game with an underlying mystery and story that unfolds with every successful step you take. Download and play detective to reveal who the mystery girl is.
