Xiaomi's new HyperCharge can charge your phone in 8 minutes

Freshly removed from the US blacklist this May, Xiaomi has stepped up the charging game by releasing a new charging solution that can obviously charge your phone in just a few minutes.

Xiaomi called the new technology HyperCharge and it has both wired and wireless variants. The Iredic method has the ability to charge a phone with a 4000mAh battery at a speed of 200 watts, according to the Chinese manufacturer, while the wireless reaches a charging speed of 120 watts.

To put this in perspective, the iPhone 12 Pro Max supports a maximum of 15 watts for wireless charging, and only with Apple's own MagSafe chargers.

So how fast can HyperCharge charge your phone? To answer the burning question, Xiaomi posted a video from their official Twitter account. The clip demonstrates a custom built Mi 11 (with a 4000mAh battery) attached to a HyperCharge platform for wired charging during the first half, and wireless during the second half of the video.

As the video shows, it took just over three minutes to charge 50% of the battery with the HyperCharge wired method and 100% in a meager seven minutes and fifty-six seconds. With "HyperCharging" wireless, it took fifteen minutes at the point to get the phone up to 100% battery life.

To avoid any misconceptions, it's worth reiterating that Xiaomi's Hypercharge is not yet available in the smartphone market, as none of the devices out there today are built to support it - yet.

Normally, such charge rates for blurring bring with them problems with overheating and rapid degradation of battery health. We look forward to hearing more details about the technology behind HyperCharge, which we suspect will include at least two separate rechargeable batteries to support such speeds.
